Willoughby has a modern computerised library with a wealth of materials for recreational reading and literature study, resources for gathering information and stimulating display material for student use.
Every class has scheduled time for borrowing and library research. Parents and carers are welcome in the library before school to browse with their children or consult with our teacher-librarian. During lunch times, students visit to read, borrow, research or enjoy board games.
Parent volunteers are always needed to assist in the daily running of the Library Information Centre. Various fund-raising activities are held during the year to ensure that the library's resources are current and to maintain the collection's high standard.
Each year many Willoughby students participate in the Premier's Reading Challenge with great success. A book fair is held on Grandparents' Day resulting in the donation of many new resources. We are fortunate to have authors and illustrators visit our school during Book Week celebrations.
Students in K-2 are required to bring a cloth library bag each week to borrow their books.
