The Willoughby Public School Band program aims to contribute to each student's development musically, socially and personally.
Our musical aims are to give all students, regardless of their previous musical experience the opportunity to:
- play a musical instrument
- develop an appreciation and understanding of a wide range of musical styles
- develop aural and expressive skills
Playing in a band can contribute to a student's development of team and community spirit, self-esteem, social interaction, self-discipline, and responsibility.
We have four levels of band involvement - Training Band, Intermediate Band, Concert Band, and Performing Band. Students are supported by very experienced band conductors.
During the year students are actively involved in:
- Community events
- Before school rehearsals
- Workshops
- Weekly tutorials
- Band Camp
- School assemblies
- School and community concerts and many more activities.
