Driving and parking
The start and end of the school day are busy times for pedestrians and drivers outside schools. Remember, rules and parking signs are in place for the safety of all children. Reduce traffic, improve road safety, and avoid the risk of a fine by walking all or some of the way to school.
When driving and parking near our school, please:
- Stick to the 40km/h sped limit in school zone and look out for children who may be about.
- Always give way to pedestrians particularly when entering and leaving driveways.
- ensure you park safely in school zones
- follow speed signs
- Always park and turn legally around schools. Manoeuvres such as U-turns and three-point turns are dangerous during busy school drop-off and pick-up times.
- Drop your children off and pick them up on the school side of the road in your school’s designated drop-off and pick-up area. Never call out to them from across the road – they may run to you without checking for traffic
Parking on school grounds
We would like to remind the community that the carpark at Willoughby Public School is designated for vehicles use only and should not be utilised as a walkway by students or parents. Allowing pedestrians in the area poses significant safety risks, including the potential for accidents due to moving vehicles and limited visibility.
We encourage everyone to use the designated pathways and entrances to ensure a safe journey to and from school. Out school policies are in place to protect our community, and your cooperation is essential in maintaining a safe environment for all.
By respecting the intended use of the carpark, we can work together to keep our students safe.
