Additional learning or Dialect

Did you know that Willoughby Public School has  almost 50% of its students  from a language background other than English? At last count, there were over 45 different languages represented.

Some of these students are still developing their English language proficiency and need support to meet the needs of the curriculum. Those students may received support by our two EAL/D teachers, Mrs Andrews and Mrs Murphy.

Students work in small groups with the EAL/D teachers to build vocabulary, work on English grammar and develop reading and writing skills. In these small group settings students often find the confidence to contribute to group discussions and practice their oral language skills.
